Candle Care 101: Simple Tips To Help Your Candle Last Longer
Candles are comforting, relaxing, and can add the right feeling to a room or moment â but they also need a bit of care so they last longer. To help you care for your candle and get great results every time you burn it, here are a few simple candle care tips. How to take care of your candle: 1. For your candleâs first burn, make sure it burns evenly. When burning your candle for the very first time, burn your candle for an hour or more. A good rule is to burn the candle for 1 hour for every inch of the candle's diameter. Burning your candle long enough so that the pool of wax extends to the rim of the jar allows the candle to set its wax âmemory.â Each time you burn the candle, it will "remember" to burn out to the rim and help avoid tunneling. 2. Trim the wick before burning your candle. Trimming the wick is a very important step. This will allow the candle to have a long, clean, even burn and avoid any soot buildup or issues. We recommend you always trim your wick to 1/4" before EACH use. When you trim the wick, turn the solidified candle upside down to prevent the burnt wick from falling into the candle. Trim the wick or remove the âmushroomâ left by the previous burn using a wick trimmer, 3. Donât burn your candle for over 4 hours. If you burn the candle for too long, it can compromise its scent and lead to smoking, which can create marks on the candleâs container. 4. Burn your candle away from drafts. Keep your candle away from drafts, air currents, or vents. The constant rush of air can cause your candle to burn unevenly and increase the chances of the candle putting off soot. 5. Extinguish your candle with a candle snuffer. The best way to avoid wax splatter is to use a candle snuffer each time you put out the candleâs flame. Don't use the lid to extinguish the flame because it can stain the glass and leave smoke marks. If you plan on blowing out the candle, blow softly so as not to make a mess with the wax. You can also put out the candle by using a wick dipper to dip the wick into the melted pool of wax and then straighten the wick before it dries. This helps stop smoking or âafterglow.â 6. Store the candle in a dark, cool area. This will keep the candle from being affected by light or heat that will shorten its life. Also, keep the candle in an upright, level position when you store it. 7. Donât burn your candle all the way down. You should stop using a candle before it runs out of wax. Burning a candle all the way down can cause the container to superheat and possibly create a mess. To preserve your candle container, leave about half an inch of wax on the bottom. If you plan on reusing your candle container, burn off the rest of the wax with a mug warmer or place the candle in the freezer. When frozen, the wax will shrink and make it easy to remove. A Few Dos and Don'ts of Candle Usage: Never leave a burning candle unattended! Always burn candles on a protective, heat-resistant surface. Never burn a candle near anything flammable. Keep candles away from kids and animals. Hey friends, just checking in! Last week was the kids first day of school for many, but it surely wasnât the normal first day weâre used to, am I right?! I personally have a 3-year-old and 9-month-old that I decided to send back to daycare. Luckily classroom size can be managed and they are taking many precautions. Temp checks, separate shoes for indoors and every little detail you can think of. The reality for many is staying home is not an option. These are trying times to begin with and now adding the responsibility of having to stay home and be what many parents said, âtheir childrenâs personal assistant,â is a lot on us! Whatever you decide, youâre doing whatâs right for your family and donât let anyone tell you otherwise! Whether your sending your kids back to school or staying home, here are a couple tips to maintain your sanity : ) Donât forget about you! Get up an hour early for âyouâ time. Have your coffee in peace, workout, or do whatever you need to do to start the day. 2. Have a routine! Soy Delicious Candles Through the Years
One of the amazing aspects of building a company and brand is how much it changes and develops. As you learn more about your customers and their preferences and needs as well as yourself as a business owner and creator, how you started your company and what it looks like transforms. And itâs no different for us at Soy Delicious. We thought weâd take some time to look back through the years at how weâve changed as we prepare for the future at Soy Delicious. Soy Delicious Candles first launched in 2006. When we first started, our branding and merchandising looked much different from it does today. But the same great, luxurious, and top-quality soy candle was first poured in 2006 and shipped in our classic Soy Delicious packaging. We continued to use this packaging until 2008. We then came out with a new look in 2009. This was a big year for us. The Latin GRAMMYS featured our newly branded packages and candles! Artist Luis Fonsi â the Puerto Rican singer â even showed some love and appreciation for our candles. And then in 2010, we were featured in the GRAMMYS where we met artists like Jamie Foxx, Lionel Richie, Lady Antebellum, and Miranda Lambert! It was so amazing and magical to debut our newest packaging in such a grand way. Over the next several years, Soy Delicious Candles saw its exposure grow and product line expand. Our luxury, premium candles and products were getting noticed and gaining recognition. They featured us on GMAâs Deals & Steals in 2016 and 2019, as well as on The Viewâs View Your Deal in 2016, 2017, and 2020! In 2019, Soy Delicious Candles was in the Carnaval on The Mile in Coral Gables, Florida.  It is so exhilarating to see our products highlighted to a wider audience and to know the quality and care we put into our products was being recognized.  In 2015, we launched our Soy Creamers, and in 2016, we came out with our kitchen collection. 2017 saw the introduction of our Soya Collection, debuting Soya One, 2wo, and Thr3e and featuring the scents of Neroli, Mademoiselle, and Tuberose. And in 2018 and 2019, we offered the limited edition white ceramic sugared violets bowl. We canât wait to share with you our newest changes for 2022! 2011 was the year we last redesigned our labels and launched our signature brown box. Since then, we havenât made any significant changes to the overall design and branding of our merchandise. But we have some wonderful changes we canât wait to share with you soon! Using Your Soy Candle as a Skin Lotion
Soy candles are wonderful to burn since they burn long, clean, and smell amazing. But did you know the soy wax oil pooling in the middle is also a skin lotion? One of soy waxâs unique properties is since itâs made from the oil of soybeans, itâs safe for the skin â so long as it is pure, clean soy wax like we use at Soy Delicious Candles. But donât think you can use any candle wax on your skin! Paraffin wax is not usable as a lotion since itâs an oil byproduct. Who would have thought we would still be having to celebrate special holidays with masks? 2021 has felt a little bit of a continuation of 2020, but as always we have to look at the brighter side of things. It looks like there's progression towards better things, and a positive mindset always helps. Since Valentines looks a bit different this year, we wanted to show you some fun ways to celebrate safely and creatively! 1. Old fashion date night at home! Get creative and set the ambiance for a romantic dinner with candlelight. Support local by picking up from your favorite restaurant and make sure you have your favorite wine on hand. My favorite wine at the moment is 19 Crimes Snoop Cali Red. 2. Let the kids join in on the Valentines fun, by baking something sweet! Get a box of white cake and add 1 cup of Strawberry jelly to the mix for a pink cake. For the frosting, you need one container of cool whip and mix it with instant vanilla pudding. This cake will have you eating seconds or thirds! 3. Make your own Valentines card. There's no need to get a store bought one! Just have fun with It and write down your favorite memory with your significant other. I bet you they will find it more meaningful. 4. Have a day date!
